Peaky Blinders season 5 is coming to Netflix - plot, spoilers and everything you need to know

Peaky Blinders fans were hit with the news that filming had been postponed last month due to the coronavirus outbreak.

So a date for the new series coming to the TV isn't yet confirmed.

But, there is good news if you don't mind watching what you may have already seen.

That's because season five of the BBC gangster drama series is finally coming to Netflix.

The Bafta award winning series starring Cillian Murphy has been a hit since its launch in 2013.

And most recent run will land on the streaming service on Wednesday, April 22, the perfect time to give it another binge watch.

Or the perfect time to watch it for the first time.

Who is in the cast?

Cillian Murphy stars as Tommy Shelby (BBC/Caryn Mandabach Productions Ltd 2019/Robert Viglasky)

Of course Cillian Murphy reprises his role as Tommy Shelby and he is joined in the series by familiar characters Paul Anderson (Arthur Shelby), Finn Cole (Michael Gray), Sophie Rundle (Ada Thorne) and Helen McCrory (Polly Gray).

Those who also returned to series five were Charlie Murphy (as trade union leader Jessie Eden), Kingsley Ben-Adir (as Colonel Ben Younger), Harry Kirton (as Finn Shelby), Packy Lee (Johnny Dogs), Ned Dennehy (as Uncle Charlie), Ian Peck (as Curly), Benjamin Zephaniah (as Jeremiah Jesus).

Game of Thrones star Aidan Gillen also made a return as Aberama Gold, alongside Jack Rowan as his ambitious boxer son Bonnie Gold.

What happens in season five?

The Shelby family had a strong end to season four when they finally defeated the Changretta's and Tommy Shelby was elected as an MP.

As we head it to season five, viewers will see the difficulties Tommy has to face as an MP.

This includes new enemies being made who end up conspiring against him.

The Shelbys will also have to deal with the ramifications of the 1929 financial crash.
