Peaky Blinders cast seen filming after death of Helen McCrory

The Peaky Blinders cast were spotted filming for the sixth series weeks after Helen McCrory's death.

Helen, who played Aunt Polly, passed away from cancer at her home on April 16, aged 52.

Now, several weeks later, Cillian Murphy (who plays Tommy Shelby) was pictured with newcomer Amber Anderson on set in Manchester.

Filming for the sixth and final series resumed in January following a long hiatus due to the coronavirus.

The 44-year-old transformed into his gangster character's suave self while he chatted away with Amber, 29.

Cillian rocked a black longline coat over a three-piece suit which he paired with a white shirt.

During filming for one scene, Cillian was seen smoking a fake cigarette.

Amber, who is best known for her role in Emma, looked the part in a green cable-knit sweater hidden under a tweed jacket and skirt.

She didn't wear her shoes as she relaxed between takes and also had her hair protected by a hair net.

It has not been revealed who Amber will be playing but the series' director Anthony Bryne revealed that there was a dangerous new character set to join the cast.

He told Digital Spy last year: "There’s a great female character who is new, who is pretty dark.

"I haven’t seen a character like her in Peaky before. I won’t say who she is, but she certainly gives Tommy a run for his money."

Their return to set comes after it was reported that filming had to come to halt again after a crew member returned a "false positive".

The test was in line with the protocol for the BBC show and forced everyone who had been in contact with the worker to self-isolate.

A spokesperson told the Daily Mail : "Filming was stood down on Peaky Blinders because of a false-positive test result for a member of the crew.

"The safety of our team on Peaky Blinders is of paramount importance."
