Peaky Blinders cast and crew pay special tribute to Helen McCrory after tragic passing

The cast and crew of Peaky Blinders have paid a special tribute to Helen McCrory as filming of the show recommenced.

The actress portrayed Aunt Polly in the hit BBC drama.

She sadly lost her battle with cancer at the age of 52 this week, with her devoted husband Damian Lewis announcing the news to fans on Friday.

Helen leaves behind her actor husband and their two children daughter Manon and son Gully.

She had opted to keep her cancer diagnosis a closely guarded secret so that she could continue her charity work in her final months without distraction.

And now the filming crew and cast of Peaky Blinders have paid a special tribute to McCrory.

A picture taken by director Anthony Byrne was uploaded to the social media accounts of the show earlier this afternoon.

Captioned "forever part of the Peaky Blinders family", in the picture we can see a special clapperboard with Aunt Polly's likeness.

Fans of the Harry Potter and Peaky Blinders actress had been stunned when it was announced on Friday that Helen had sadly passed away.

Damian and Helen guested on the BBC Coronavirus Newscast last April to talk about their campaign to raise cash to send food to overworked NHS staff.

The couple played the Mr & Mrs quiz for show hosts Laura Kuenssberg and Adam Fleming.

Helen, who also starred as Narcissa Malfoy in three Harry Potter films, revealed she loved how there isn’t a slobbish bone in Homeland actor Damian’s body but admitted he wound her up by not sharing his chocolates with her.

She said: “He’s not a slob. He has many, many faults – many – but not slobby.

"Damian’s idea of slobby is he got up at 8 o’clock and is showered and down and having his third cup of coffee. There’s not a slobby bit of him.”
