Peaky Blinders bar hosting a 1920s Prohibition New Year Party

With Christmas creeping ever closer, restaurants and bars in Manchester are releasing information about their festive events, and popular venue Peaky Blinders is no exception- promising a Gatsby-style’ evening of glamour on New Year’s Eve.

The bar, located on Peter Street is ‘throwing it back to the days of 1920s prohibition’-minus the ban on alcohol sales, of course- with a five course meal, and plenty of other entertainment at the gala, including magicians and dancers.

Guests will be greeted with a glass of prosecco and canapés on arrival with DJs and a live brass band providing the music.

Starter options include pulled confit duck terrine, spiced red pepper and sweet potato soup and a smoked salmon roulade.

The main courses feature turkey or goose breast with roast vegetables and their signature ‘peaky gravy’, as well as a lentil and barley steamed pudding vegan alternative.

There’s also a selection of sweet and savoury desserts to choose from – including a white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake, and a cheeseboard.

Food can be washed down with a variety of festive cocktails, as well as the Peaky Blinders signature drinks, named after characters and events in the TV series, such as the Garrison Special, made from Cîroc Mango, Grapefruit Liquor, Passionfruit Syrup, Egg White and Neck Oil IPA, or Arthur’s Punch, consisting of Tanqueray, St Germain, Lemon, Apple, Pineapple, and Blueberry Jam.

General admission on New Year’s Eve to the ground floor bar will be £20 per person, and tickets to the full gala experience with the five course meal cost £75 each.

There are also a variety of festive-themed events throughout November and December, including the ‘Roaring Peaky Christmas’ which runs every Friday and Saturday until Christmas.

Their bottomless brunch has proven to be a hit since it launched, with the bar recently expanding to include a bottomless Sunday Lunch.

One reviewer even described it as a ‘peaky blinder’ and said: “From the minute we walked into the heavily themed and lively bar, we knew we would have a good time.

“What we didn’t anticipate, but that was a great surprise was the commitment of staff to create a fun, professional and hygienic surrounding for a great time!! Would 100% recommend!”

Another added: “Whether you're a fan of the show or not this is a must visit when in Manchester. The food is magnificent, as are the cocktails. The only thing better is the service which was delivered with a warm smile and a welcoming hello by each and every member of staff.”
