Peak developer Aggro Crab has just released patch 1.53.a, which adds a number of new features and bug fixes to the game. The most exciting addition is that you can now kick other players from the game. This is a long-awaited option, as it will allow hosts to kick people with connection issues, rather than forcing them to restart the whole session.
According to the Peak patch notes, while Peak players are still not allowed to kick our fellow scouts in-game, and you should feel ashamed for even thinking that, we can now kick them out of the game if there are issues. A session's host can now see a little boot symbol next to the audio slider in the pause menu, and clicking it will kick the player from the game.
A kicked player can't be 'un-kicked', so if you want to include that player in the session, you'll need to go back to the menu and start hosting a new session. There are numerous non-evil reasons for wanting to kick someone from the game, such as if they are suffering from connection issues, or are causing problems for other players.
There are also a number of quality-of-life changes, such as an overhaul to how players can reconnect. One change allows people to return as a scout instead of a ghost if the party revives others at the campfire they are currently at. Another means there is time for you to throw a scorpion away before it stings you.
The ability to add rich text tags to your name has been removed, and if you're disappointed by that change, feel heartened that you'll be able to roll snowballs around to make them bigger. A huge boon for sure.
