Peak on track for growth after move into bigger premises

An independent cycling and running store has moved to a bigger premises at one of Staffordshire's most popular tourist attractions.

Peak Riders and Striders opened at the Trentham Estate Shopping Village last September, selling everything from e-bikes and sportswear to accessories for cycling and running enthusiasts.

It was launched by Audley-based Peak – which is known for delivering family-friendly outdoor activities and tailor-made adventure packages at its sites across the UK. It is the first time the business has tapped into retail.

Now it has relocated to a bigger premises three times bigger than its former base – just across from its old shop.

The move means Peak Riders and Striders will be able to expand its range of bikes and running apparel, clothing and accessories.

Peak managing director Paul Ball said: "We opened in September 2020, and despite the Covid pandemic, the shop has continued to grow, to such an extent that we soon realised we needed a bigger store.

"Having three times the space means we can offer a bigger range of brands, and also house our popular cycle repair workshop in the shop instead of off site.

"We have worked really hard to build an engaged customer base and have had some fantastic feedback on our services."

Paul added: "The Olympics is also a fantastic time to help boost demand for bikes and running equipment as people are inspired to get active through watching running, cycling and triathlon."

Store manager Andy Gray said: "The team are really excited about the new shop – it means we can stock even more great brands."

"We have a great range of bikes with everything from road bikes, mountain bikes, e-bikes and kids bikes in stock. We also have some great running brands including Hoka, Saucony and Asics."

Established over 20 years ago, Peak employs more than 230 full-time staff nationwide.

It operates across four sectors including outdoor adventures, education and retail. It is also the UK's largest provider of the expeditions section of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award scheme.
