Peacocks rescued with 200 stores and 2,000 jobs saved

Collapsed retail chain Peacocks has been brought out of administration by a senior executive.

The senior executive has backing from a consortium of international investors saving 200 stores and 2,000 jobs, it has been announced.

The deal comes as high street stores prepare to reopen on Monday, April 12, in England.

There are currently a number of Peacocks stores across Merseyside, in Belle Vale, Bootle, Kirkby, St Helens, Widnes, Skelmersale, Liverpool city centre and Burscough.

A Liverpool city centre store, which was based in Clayton Square, closed its doors on Sunday, March 15, 2020.

Other Peacocks stores across the region had started 'everything must go' sales but they didn't have an official closing date.

Thousands of jobs were put at risk in November 2020, after bosses at clothing chains Peacocks and Jaeger failed to find a buyer for the troubled businesses.

In 2020, a spokesperson for owner EWM Group previously said they had been speaking to several potential buyers who were interested in parts of the business.

Tony Wright, joint administrator of the business from FRP Advisory, said: "Jaeger and Peacocks are attractive brands that have suffered the well-known challenges that many retailers face at present.

"We are in advanced discussions with a number of parties and working hard to secure a future for both businesses."

It now seems the firm have been rescued following backing from a consortium of international investors.
