After a brief appearance in "Superman," John Cena's hilarious antihero has returned to our screens for "Peacemaker" season 2. The first season of the acclaimed HBO Max superhero action-comedy was a blast, and fans (myself included) have been waiting to see what the rebooted DC Universe has in store for Chris Smith.
Well, after three years of waiting, we're finally about to find out, as "Peacemaker" season 2 premieres on HBO Max imminently. And with the official trailer teasing a run-in with the Justice Gang, plenty more action, and some parallel universe shenanigans, it sure looks like we're in for another thrilling season.

'Peacemaker' season 2 episode release schedule
"Peacemaker" season 2 premieres today (Thursday, August 21, 2025) at 9 pm. ET/PT on HBO Max. New episodes will continue to air on a weekly basis, with the season finale slated for Thursday, October 9, 2025.
Based in the UK? "Peacemaker" season is set to premiere on Sky Max at 10 p.m. on Friday, August 22, 2025, with the finale set for Friday, October 10. Fans will also be able to stream the new series on NOW.

How many episodes of 'Peacemaker' season 2 are there?
If you didn't know going in (or didn't read the schedule above), "Peacemaker" season 2 is eight episodes long. That makes "Peacemaker" season 2 equally as long as the first chapter, which also ran for eight episodes between January and February 2022.
The only difference, really, is that the first series got a three-episode premiere, whereas "Peacemaker" season 2 is airing one episode at a time.
Is 'Peacemaker' season 3 happening?
Right now, we don't yet know what the future holds for "Peacemaker" after season 2, as no announcement has been made about the show's future just yet.
Going into the new series, it would seem like everyone's keen for the main man to stick around, though. "Peacemaker" was already well-loved, but reviews for season 2 are even better — "Peacemaker" season 2 currently holds a 98% on Rotten Tomatoes, compared to the first chapter's 93% critics' score. That sure seems like there's an appetite for more, right?
James Gunn has been very coy about the character's DCU future, too. Recently, the DC Studios co-lead was asked by ComicBook whether Cena's superstar could head back to the big screen after his debut in 2021's "The Suicide Squad", or if he was stuck on the small screen — and Gunn gave nothing away.
"I actually know the answer to that question," Gunn told the publication. "And I am not at liberty to say under penalty of Safran punishment, which is a loss of my knuckle. Every time I give away something, Peter Safran will take away another joint of my finger. It's very painful. He uses a cigar cutter", he joked.
In other words, we'll just have to wait and see whether "Peacemaker" season 3 (or a "Peacemaker" movie) is part of the DCU's future plans or not.
