
About 100,000 lotuses are now in full bloom at the Ancient Lotus Village in Gyoda, Saitama Prefecture.
These pale pink flowers can be viewed until mid-July. They come from seeds that are believed to have been between 1,400 and 3,000 years old -- the seeds were discovered at a nearby construction site in the 1970s and germinated naturally.
The garden set up lanes for visitors as a measure to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus.
"These beautiful flowers give me peace of mind," said a 60-year-old woman from Kawaguchi, Saitama Prefecture, who hadn't been out in a while.
