PE lessons should include disabled children too

The notion of inclusive PE extends beyond the realm of able-bodied children (Letters, 5 September). I applaud Active Inspiration in their aim of inspiring children to love being active. However, this must explicitly include children with physical disabilities, who are not mentioned in their letter. As someone who works to support mainstream school and nursery staff in the full inclusion of PD children and young people, it is my experience that there is a significant training need for mainstream PE staff to be aware of and implement inclusive PE strategies. This training is well established and readily available, and I hope that Active Inspiration will clearly support this in their representations to teachers and the Department for Education.
