The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday said incarcerated Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Waheed-ur-Rahman Para was "a crucial player in sustaining political-separatist-terrorist nexus in J&K".
The NIA on Monday filed a fresh chargesheet against two "gun runners" and one "financier of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen in the case of ex-Deputy Superintendent of Police Devender Singh, who was arrested while allegedly ferrying two Hizbul Mujahideen militants in a vehicle bound in January last year.
"(The NIA) Investigation has also revealed that chargesheeted accused Waheed-ur-Rahman Para was part of the conspiracy for raising and transferring of terror funds to Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM) militants for procurement of terrorist hardware and was also a crucial player in sustaining political-separatist-terrorist nexus in J&K," a NIA spokesman said.
The NIA has filed a supplementary chargesheet against three accused, Shaheen Ahmad Lone, Tafazul Hussain Parimoo and Para under Section 120B of the IPC, Sections 17, 18, 38, 39 and 40 of the UA (P) Act and Section 25 (1AA) of Arms Act and Section 6 of the Explosive Substances Act in the NIA's special court in Jammu.
The NIA said Mr. Lone and Mr. Parimoo were involved in gun running from across the Line of Control (LoC) for the militants of banned terrorist organisations Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM) and Lashkar e Taiba (LeT).
"They were also channelizing funds to the militants for sustaining terrorist activities in J&K at the behest of handlers located in Pakistan. Further investigation in the case continues," the NIA said.
