PDC World Darts Championship prize money: Confirmed totals for winner, runner-up and more

The PDC World Darts Championship is the event that can define the upcoming year for professional darts stars.

With a reasonable run at Alexandra Palace, fringe darts players can bulk their bank balance for the upcoming year and give them the platform for greater success.

No other tournament on the calendar offers prizes quite like the worlds.

Take quarter-finalist Darius Labanauskas, for example. Before his £50,000 prize for running all the way to the final eight this year, he had claimed just £9,500 in rewards since the start of July.

It could have been just £4,500, if it was not for his £5,000-earning run to the last-32 in November's Players Championship Finals.

Obviously, the lie isn't quite so rough for the likes of Michael van Gerwen, who is at the top of the darting world.

He has bagged a cool £516,000 since the start of July. While the PDC event is the one he wants to win, an early exit will not have the same crushing impact on his livelihood as it can other pro players.

But how much will each player take home for their darting odysseys this year?

PDC World Darts Championship prize money

  • First round losers: £7,500
  • Second round losers: £15,000
  • Third round losers: £25,000

There is also a £100,000 bonus for any player who can hit two nine-dart finishes in the tournament - although that feat has never been achieved at any World Championship by a single player in the past.

But how does the PDC event compare to the BDO World Darts Championship, which starts in January?
