First lady of darts Fallon Sherrock has won a call-up to the Premier League – as one of the Challengers on a one-night stand.
The history girl, who became the first woman to beat male opposition at the PDC World Championship last month, will be the Sherrock of Nottingham when she competes at the Motorpoint Arena on February 13.
Sherrock's stunning wins against Ted Evetts and Mensur Suljovic turned her into a marketing dream overnight.
And the PDC board had no hesitation in nominating the former hairdresser from Bletchley as one of the Challengers to test the nine players called up for the 17-week travelling circus, which makes a maiden splashdown in Berlin this year.
Sherrock's call-up tempers her disappointment at pulling out of the BDO ladies' world championship this weekend after prize money was slashed more than 50 per cent because of dreadful ticket sales, TV income and sponsorship.
She said: “This is an incredible honour – I can't wait to play against the best players in the world.”
Glen Durrant and Nathan Aspinall are the two new names on the Premier League roster, along with five-times champion Michael van Gerwen, Rob Cross, Gary Anderson, Peter Wright, Gerwyn Price, Michael Smith and Daryl Gurney.
