PCM Tripathi, the former deputy resident editor of the Indian Express, died on Monday at the age of 74.
Tripathi had been undergoing treatment for a kidney ailment, according to the Indian Express. Originally from Uttar Pradesh's Gorakhpur, he had been living with his son in Goa for the last three years.
Tripathi had joined the Express in 1972 when Frank Moraes was editor and worked there for nearly 30 years. His former employer said he was "known among his colleagues as a hardworking and conscientious journalist". He had headed the newspaper's news desk in Delhi.
