A police officer mimicked a bouncer’s Jamaican accent and threatened door staff with arrest after he was thrown out of a pub, a disciplinary hearing found.

Off-duty Pc James Mitchell produced his warrant card when was ejected following a dispute at a venue in Farringdon, police said.

Mitchell resigned before facing a public hearing that found him guilty of gross misconduct last Wednesday.

Scotland Yard said: “Had Mitchell been a serving officer he would have been dismissed without notice.”

Mitchell was also accused of making monkey noises at the bouncers but the tribunal did not find this allegation to be true.

A Met police spokesman said: “Allegations of gross misconduct have been proven against a former constable.”
