PC Andrew Harper's widow 'let down' as killers sentences will not be increased

The widow of PC Andrew Harper feels “let down” by the justice system after the Court of Appeal refused to increase his killers’ sentences.

The newlywed officer was dragged to his death behind a car last year, at age of just 28.

His 29-year-old widow Lissie was outraged by their sentences, which mean they may be out in as little as eight years.

Attorney General Suella Braverman QC referred the terms to the Court of Appeal, saying the killing in Berkshire was “as serious a case of manslaughter as it is possible to envisage”.

But Dame Victoria Sharp said yesterday “mere disagreement” with the three young offenders’ sentences was not grounds to rule they were too lenient.

In response, Lissie said the killers will be out “far earlier than they... deserve to”.
