A fake message from PayPal has recently emerged where customers are being told they have a problem with their account.
Customers have been tweeting the company after receiving text messages from a number appearing to be PayPal.
One message, which has been sent to numerous people, said: "PayPal: Your account has been suspended due to a failed payment request. Visit [website] to lift any pending payments."
Another one, sent to Liverpool customers, read: "Paypal: We've temporarily limited what you can do with your account. Please log in via [website] to help us resolve the issue."
However, PayPal has made it clear that these messages are not from them.
Responding to a concerned user on Twitter, PayPal said: "Thanks for informing us about this. This is not from us.
"Please do not click any link or reply to any emails or messages and delete them as soon as possible."
They advised anyone who believes their account may be compromised, to reset their password and update the security questions.
I've received this text, what should I do?
If you think you've received a suspicious email or have been directed to a fake website, forward it to spoof@paypal.com and they’ll investigate it for you.
After you send the email, delete it from your inbox. If you clicked on any links or downloaded any attachments within the suspicious email or website, log into your account and view your transactions.
It’s also a good idea to change your password.
