Reigning Bathurst 1000 champion Matt Payne has registered back-to-back commanding wins to end the historic first round in Christchurch.
After cantering to victory in the second 37-lap sprint on Saturday, Ford ace Payne continued his hot pace in Sunday's 200km race.
Starting on pole, the New Zealander was untroubled for the majority of the race to celebrate another win in front of home fans.
"It was really nice to have a quick car, just being able to execute," said Payne, whose only two wins for this season came within 24 hours.
"That was the perfect race for us - a couple of safety cars - but we were just damn fast and it was damn enjoyable."
But Payne did have to deal with a late safety car, as fellow Kiwi Ryan Wood's Toyota came to a sudden halt with five laps remaining, forcing the yellow flag out.
Wood, who won in Taupo last week, was in contention to claim the prestigious Jason Richards trophy but was left devastated over the malfunction.
Payne's Penrite teammate Kai Allen was in second on the restart and was under strict team orders not to vie for the lead.
In a dramatic conclusion, reigning champion Chaz Mostert and title leader Brodie Kostecki came in contact with each other.
Mostert was in fourth when given a 30-second penalty for taking Kostecki out, sending the Ford flying into the dirt.
Kostecki came in 18th, while Mostert finished 17th due to the penalty.
"It's not nice hearing that safety car come out with about five laps to go," Payne said.
"But hey that's just what it was."
It allowed Red Bull Ampol's Broc Feeney to overtake Kostecki in the championship standings.
Earlier in the weekend, Kai Allen recorded his maiden Supercars win, while Kostecki claimed his fifth race victory of the season.
Due to last week's cyclone on the North Island forcing the cancellation of the final race in Taupo, an extra sprint was added to the Christchurch schedule.
It meant there was the most points on offer in any Supercars round in 25 years.
Supercars announced a total crowd of 65,806 at Ruapuna Raceway over the three days, making the tally 95,368 for the double-header in NZ after the round in Taupo last weekend.
