When times are tough, it's more important than ever to make sure you are receiving the money that you are entitled to.
And with the May bank holiday coming up, some parents will face disruption to their benefits payments.
But, they will be relieved to hear payments won't be late.
In fact, Universal Credit , tax credits and child benefits will be paid into people's bank accounts early.
Child benefit and tax credits are usually paid every four weeks on Monday or Tuesday, but there are different payment dates if there is a bank holiday.

This is when Universal Credit, tax credits and child benefit will be paid over the two May bank holiday's .
First bank holiday
- Payment due : Monday, May 6
- Benefits paid on : Friday, May 3
Second bank holiday
- Payment due : Monday May 27
- Benefits paid on : Friday, May 24

If your payment is late, HMRC asks people to check the payment date on their award notice and contact their bank.
You can also call the Tax Credit Helpline on 0345 300 3900 if you have any further questions.
However, the helpline won't be available on the Saturday or the Bank Holiday Monday.
