Paulson Adebo must sustain his level of play in Marshon Lattimore’s absence

Paulso Adebo has performed really well over the past month for the New Orleans Saints. He was even recognized as the NFC Defensive Player of the Week after forcing multiple turnovers against the Chicago Bears. Adebo nearly had an interception for the third week in a row versus the Vikings, but the ball went through his hands. In addition to forcing turnovers, Adebo has also been effective at limiting yards after the catch. Last week, he had a season-high 9 tackles.

Adebo must continue this level of play now that Marshon Lattimore is sidelined with a high ankle sprain. This injury could force the Saints top corner to miss multiple games. As long as Lattimore is out, Adebo is now the lead corner. That shouldn’t change too much for Adebo as the Saints haven’t followed many receivers this year. He is used to playing against multiple receivers. He might see slightly more action against the opposing lead receiver but not much.

Either way, it’s important he sustains his level of play so at least one side of the field is secured. Lattimore felt as if he was barely targeted in some games. Now, opponents will feel comfortable targeting either side. Yiadom and Adebo will both need to play well, of course, but Adebo has been playing at the level of a top corner. That’s what he’ll be for New Orleans until Lattimore returns.
