Paulo Dybala 'close to Tottenham move' before transfer deadline

Paulo Dybala is reportedly close to finalising a move to Tottenham Hotspur on transfer deadline day.

The Argentina international, 25, was linked with a move from Juventus to Spurs earlier this summer, before discussions ramped up over a potential switch to Manchester United as part of a deal which would take Romelu Lukaku to Turin.

But Dybala had reservations over the move to Old Trafford and the wages on offer in Manchester, and that has seemingly seen him favour a switch to last season's beaten Champions League finalists.

BBC Sport report that Dybala could link up with his fellow Argentinean Mauricio Pochettino, and a deal could be finalised before Thursday's 5pm BST transfer deadline.

Tottenham are also said to be in discussions over a move for the Fulham youngster Ryan Sessegnon in a deal which could see youngster Josh Onomah head the other way to Craven Cottage.

In addition, Spurs are looking at a deal for long-term target Giovani Lo Celso from Real Betis, while Christian Eriksen is still looking to leave the club this summer.

The Dane was linked with a switch to Manchester United, but he is now set to hold out for a move to Spain, which he could complete before their transfer window closes on September 2.

Earlier this summer, Pochettino hit out at the lack of transfer activity from his club, and suggested that Spurs should change his job title from manager to coach as he had no part in the dealings.

"I know nothing about the situation of my players," he said.

"We are agreed that it would be good, for myself, for the club, for all.

"It's true that 'manager' is a word that means different things than head coach. Maybe I was always manager from the first day I arrived here - and maybe it describes my job better."
