Paula Abdul takes an epic tumble as she fell off stage head-first

Paula Abdul took an epic tumble off the front of a stage mid-performance during a show in Mississippi.

The 56-year-old singer was powering through her 1991 hit The Promise of a New Day when she moved towards the front edge of the stage to greet fans.

Underestimating the space between the stage and floor Abdul suddenly took a tumble forward into the crowd.

Fans were clearly stunned at the fall with one woman screaming in shock as the Cold Hearted hit maker fell head-first off the stage.

According to TMZ, Abdul was straight back up and continued without a hitch.

A fan told PEOPLE: “She did not seem hurt at the time of the fall and still finished like a champ.

“She stated she was a dancer, and falls and drops she has gotten used to over the years.”

The American Idol judge is currently in the middle of her first solo tour in 25 years, Straight up Paula! 2018 Tour.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight ahead of the tour, she said: "It's been decades since I've done my own tour.

"I had a great taste of what it's like being on the road last summer with the New Kids on the Block and Boyz II Men, and had a great time.

"It was just a real warm welcome and [it reminded me] of how it felt like when I was on the road constantly year
