Paul Walker’s brother Cody names newborn son after him almost a decade on from death

Paul Walker’s brother Cody has named his newborn son after the late Fast & Furious actor, who died 10 years ago in November.

American actor Paul William Walker IV was best-known for his role as Brian O'Conner in the Fast & Furious film franchise.

Born in September 1973, the actor sadly died in November 2013 when he was just 40-years-old in a fatal car crash.

But now Paul's brother Cody Walker has honoured the star with a sweet tribute, almost a decade on from his untimely death.

Cody, 34, and his wife Felicia Knox have announced that they have decided to name their newborn son Paul. The couple already share a daughter, five, and a son, two.

People Magazine reported today that the couple's newborn son is name Paul Barrett 'Bear' Walker and "was born 7 lbs., 4 oz. on Sunday, April 30, in Arizona".

Speaking to the outlet, Cody touched on his brother's passing and how it has almost been a decade.

He said: "This November will mark 10 years since we lost my brother, Paul, and I just felt now was the appropriate time."

Cody then revealed why the name Paul is so special for the Walker family when he said: "My brother, Caleb, and I are both done having children.

"My brother, Paul, was Paul William Walker IV and that name goes back four generations.

"Within the family, he went by ‘little Paul’ or ‘Paul 4,’ even though he quickly outgrew our father in height. It was important to me to have that name carry on."

Paul's untimely death came as he and Roger Rodas left an event for the actors charity, with financial adviser Roger driving his red 2005 Porsche Carrera GT.

Traveling too fast in a 45 mph speed zone in a neighbourhood of Santa Clarita, California, the car ended up crashing into a concrete lamp post and two trees, and then catching fire.

Both men died, with Paul dying of the combined effects of trauma and burns. No alcohol or other drugs were found in either Roger or Paul's system.

The seventh Fast & Furious film was in production at the time of Paul's passing, with Universal announcing a hiatus soon after.
