After standing in for his late brother in Fast & Furious 7, Cody Walker has now landed his first major role in a film.
According to Deadline, the 27-year-old brother of Paul Walker, who died in a 2013 car crash, will take on a supporting role alongside Nicolas Cage in second world war drama USS Indianapolis. The film sees Cage playing Captain Charles McVay, whose ship was torpedoed while on a classified mission. Because of the secrecy, it wasn’t reported until days later. The story was famously retold in Jaws.
Walker, a former paramedic, is set to play one of the crewmen while the film will be directed by Mario Van Peebles, whose recent credits have been on the small screen, from episodes of Empire to Once Upon A Time.
After the death of the Fast & Furious 7 star during production, Walker helped with scenes that were unfinished, along with brother Caleb and digital trickery that reportedly cost $50m to complete.
There’s also an unconfirmed rumour that he will star in Fast & Furious 8 as a relative of his brother’s character. The film is set to start shooting in the coming months.
