Paul Taylor: Jarrow man stabbed to death during a drunken row

Paul Taylor was stabbed to death by his partner Nicola Lee after a drunken row.

Lee was described as ‘manipulative, calculated, dangerous and vicious’ as she was was jailed for 14 years after being convicted of manslaughter.

The 44-year-old killed her 45-year-old partner with a kitchen knife after a night of drinking and rowing at her home in Jarrow, on March 31, last year.

Newcastle Crown Court heard how Lee had attacked boyfriends previously, including one occasion when she stabbed a man in the leg with a garden fork. The court was also told she was prone to 'pathological jealousy'.

And weeks before she killed him, Paul covered up for Lee after she attacked him with a hammer.

In a statement read to the court Paul’s mum said she had last spoken to him a couple of days before his death. Police officers told her about his death and she had to open her Mother’s Day card a few hours later “when Paul was no longer with us”.

She described him as being a ‘chatterbox’ with a sense of humour who would entertain his children, grandchild, nieces and nephews with ‘silly voices, dances and impressions of people’.

A statement from his sister read: “I’m heartbroken, I’ve lost my big brother who told me he would always be there for me."
