Paul Scholes predicts two-horse title race as Liverpool 'worry' Pep Guardiola

Paul Scholes believes Manchester City remain the only challengers to Liverpool in the Premier League title race.

But the former England midfielder insisted Pep Guardiola will 'worry' after watching Jurgen Klopp lead his team to a 5-0 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Chelsea currently sit top of the league table by a point but the former United midfielder believes the Reds’ comprehensive victory has sent a clear message to their title rivals.

Jurgen Klopp’s side remain the only unbeaten team so far this season, with their latest win extending their run to 23 games without defeat.

Scholes , who had previously predicted that United would be outclassed by Liverpool , delivered his verdict on what the result means for this season’s title race.

"I think it’s a devastating day for the Premier League," he told Premier League Productions.

"Seeing Liverpool go to Old Trafford and win so convincingly, I think it will make City worry.

"Chelsea … I’m not sure, they have been great and I think they are better than I actually give them credit for but I think it’s between Liverpool and Manchester City.

"I think City watching that today - any team in the Champions League or the Premier League - that will frighten them."
