Paul Scholes names best Man Utd attack he doesn't think "anyone can handle"

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has named the best attack he thinks the club has right now.

The Red Devils were held to a 2-2 draw by Leicester on Boxing Day in a huge top four clash.

Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes were both on the scoresheet as the pair continued their excellent form.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer once again started Anthony Martial up front, while Daniel James played on the right wing, leaving Edinson Cavani and Mason Greenwood on the bench.

Scholes reckons Solskjaer has found an excellent formula in attack, but would switch out James for Greenwood, insisting that most sides would struggle against those four.

“Leaving the best players out, I wasn’t really including Cavani in that,” Scholes said on BT Sport. “I know he’s a top centre-forward but he’s coming to the end of his career now.

“I was thinking more Mason Greenwood. I know he didn’t come into the game today, but I think when those three start together, Greenwood, Martial, Rashford with Fernandes in behind, I don’t think anybody can handle that. I think it’s too good.

“It’s great to have Cavani coming on as an option, as he did, and there will be some games he can play.

“I said before about the 12, 13, 14 players United need to have fit to maintain a challenge, that’s still right.

“But they will have games where this players will come in, like Dan James did against Leeds last week, like Cavani can do in spells as well.

“Can they win the league? I don’t know. I think they can challenge but I just see Liverpool as too good for anybody else in this league at the minute.”

On experienced striker Cavani, Scholes added: “He’s their only centre-forward”, to which co-pundit Savage asked: “Can't he play every week?

Scholes replied: “I just think Martial is probably the better option because of his pace, because of his speed.

“United play on the counter-attack a lot more, it probably suits him more than Cavani.

“But Cavani will have a big part to play. He’s capable of scoring 15-20 goals, even if it’s from the bench.”
