Paul Scholes has "a hunch" that Liverpool and Man City are worried about Man Utd

Paul Scholes has a "hunch" that Liverpool and Manchester City are nervous Manchester United about and panicking about next season's title race.

The Red Devils cruised to a fourth straight Premier League victory, all by a margin of three goals, as they comfortably dispatched of relegation doomed Aston Villa on Thursday evening.

January wonder-signing Bruno Fernandes opened the scoring at VIlla Park from the penalty spot, to celebrate his eighth goal in 15 appearances.

That led United legend Scholes to write "well then" on his Instagram Story.

Mason Greenwood continued his excellent for to double their lead before Paul Pogba crashed in a perfectly placed long-range strike to wrap up the three points.

The win means Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men are only a point behind Leicester and just two points adrift of Chelsea in third, as they attempt to confirm a Champions League spot next season - regardless of City's UEFA ban appeal.

But rather than looking at European qualification, Scholes reckons that runaway champions Liverpool, and holders City will have United firmly on their mind as a huge rival next season.

"Is it time for a couple of teams to start worrying about this team?" said Scholes.

"I have a hunch they might be already ."

Solskjaer agrees with Scholes' projection, at least to some extent, as he pointed to an improvement in dressing room morale for the upturn in performances.

“I am sure Manchester United will mount a challenge and get back to winning the league,” he insisted.

“How quickly, is up to everyone here.

“We are definitely improving and developing as a team. Everything is miles better in the dressing room.”

Although, the Norwegian insisted their is still room for improvement“We are happy with the way we create chances but we need to be more clinical.

“We could have scored so many more goals."
