Paul Scholes gives verdict on Manchester United youngsters Shola Shoretire and Amad

Paul Scholes is excited by what's to come from Amad and Shola Shoretire at Manchester United.

The youngsters have garnered plenty of attention recently following their debuts this month, with Amad making his first-team bow in the first leg of the Reds' Europa League tie against Real Sociedad and Shoretire coming off the bench against Newcastle United at the weekend.

Their promotions to United's first-team squad came after some impressive performances for the Under-23s, with 17-year-old Shoretire putting in a string of bright displays above his age level and Amad looking strong for Neil Wood's team after arriving from Atalanta in January.

Speaking to BT Sport ahead of United's second leg against Sociedad, Scholes said Amad and Shoretire are somewhat unknown quantities at senior level.

Yet the United legend said he has liked what he has seen from both players and feels they have the qualities needed to be considered exciting prospects by the Old Trafford hierarchy.

He said: "I haven’t seen loads of them. Amad has been bought for big money from Atalanta, he looks like he has ability, he’s left-footed, he can beat a man, he’s created and scored goals in the U23s.

"Exactly the same as Shoretire, he looks a really big prospect. I think he’s a player that can play on either side, cutting in, not really a wide player, but capable of scoring goals.

"As we saw with Amad when he came on last week, he looks a little bit tired at the end of his runs but that can happen."
