Paul Scholes explains how Manchester United can still make Man City nervous in title race

Paul Scholes says he is hopeful that Manchester United may still be able to worry Manchester City in the title race.

The Reds currently trail their rivals by 10 points and face matches against Chelsea and Crystal Palace in the Premier League ahead of a Manchester derby on March 7.

With City in fine form, many have argued their lead at the top of the table is already unassailable, with United having recently dropped points against the likes of West Brom and Sheffield United.

Yet Scholes believes a good result for United in the upcoming derby could well make City start to look over their shoulders.

Speaking on BT Sport, Scholes said United are more than capable of securing their place in the top four this season and should still be looking to close the gap on City at the top of the table, although he admits it looks more likely that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side are currently playing for second place.

"You have to say are United playing for second place, it’s probably looking likely at the minute," he said. "Top four - I think they’re more than good enough to do that. Can they go to City and win, and then make it seven points?

"This season has been so strange with loads of teams dropping points, I know City are on a fantastic run with a brilliant squad, but you just don’t know.

"Seven points could almost make you a little bit nervous. Wishful thinking, I’m optimistic we can hopefully make them a little bit scared going into the last few games."
