Paul Robinson identifies moment that sums up Leeds United's 'poorest' performance of the season

Leeds United's six-game unbeaten run in the Premier League came to an end with a slump as they suffered a 2-0 defeat to Brighton.

After impressive results against the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool, the Whites went into the game on the South Coast full of confidence.

Yet they put in a lacklustre performance, struggling to create chances with their usual vigor and slumped to a 2-0 defeat that could have been worse had the Seagulls been better at their finishing in a result that moves them clear of relegation danger.

It was a performance that left former Whites goalkeeper Paul Robinson unimpressed.

Speaking on Amazon Prime, Robinson argued it was the worst that he has seen Marcelo Bielsa's side play this season, with any faint hopes they had of still qualifying for Europe effectively over.

The pundit pointed to Bielsa's decision to replace the isolated Patrick Bamford with Rodrigo just before the hour mark as an example of why the Whites' performance was so bad, arguing that nothing about how Leeds played changed after the substitution.

He said: "That’s the poorest I’ve seen them play this season.

"They looked like they huffed and puffed, but they just weren’t at the races today.

"They didn’t seem to turn up today, I know it’s an easy phrase to say, but there was no cohesion, there was no ball playing from back to front.

"Patrick Bamford was an isolated figure and we saw him substituted in the second half with Rodrigo coming on, but that didn’t change things.

"No matter what the manager seemed to do, nothing seemed to change."
