Paul Pogba would be 'angry' with Man Utd contract extension as Real Madrid eye transfer

Paul Pogba would be angry were Manchester United to trigger a clause in his contract which extends his deal by another year.

Real Madrid were interested in the Frenchman last summer but the Red Devils stood firm and rebuffed all offers.

But reports in Spain suggest that this summer will see Madrid make one last effort to secure the player's signature.

Pogba's deal at Old Trafford runs until 2021 but discussions would not necessarily be needed with the club able to prolong his stay by another year.

The relationship between the player, his agent and the club is already strained but should United take control of Pogba's future it would only increase tensions, reports AS.

But the Red Devils are hoping to enter discussions where both parties can mutually decide where they go moving forward.

Pogba has showed little desire to stay at Old Trafford despite becoming the club's record signing less than four years ago.

Madrid and former club Juventus have both been linked with the World Cup winner.

Raiola has also done his utmost to help manufacture a move having previously claimed Italy is Pogba's "home".

"Italy is like a second home for him," he said earlier this season.

While the agent also said he wants his client to be "in a club that I hope fights for the league and hopefully the Champions League".

Pogba has made just two appearances since September with his season ravaged by injury.

Last season he experienced the most fruitful period of his United career after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer arrived but his form tailed off towards the end of the season.

The recent arrival of Bruno Fernandes has helped soften the blow.

The Portuguese playmaker was signed from Sporting Lisbon and has hit the ground running at Old Trafford.
