Paul Pogba: Why Man Utd star may be 'putting Real Madrid off' summer transfer

Real Madrid could be put off Paul Pogba because the Frenchman is not giving Manchester United any peace.

That's the view of Liverpool legend and Spanish football expert Michael Robinson.

Pogba has been heavily linked with a potential move to the Santiago Bernabeu - despite Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's proclamation that he expects him to still be at Old Trafford next season.

But Robinson, a former Republic of Ireland international, speaking on ‘El Larguero’ on Spanish radio station ‘Cadena Ser’, explained why Los Blancos may still have questions marks over the World Cup winner.

“A lot of times you see players and you say ‘he’s good and I want him in my team’", said Robinson.

"But what you don’t see and what carries the same weight is how they would exist together, knowing if he [Pogba] is going to be calm in Madrid, if he is going to occupy the pages of the newspapers.

“That’s the question mark with Pogba. At the moment there isn’t much peace with him in Manchester.”

Robinson added: “Sadly for Pogba he has been in the newspapers a lot and not precisely for playing well or anything like that, but for comments and faux pas.”

When asked about Pogba’s character, Robinson said: “He’s not bad. I see him how Zidane sees him, but what Zidane hasn’t said is the character he has, those things you don’t see on the pitch.”

Robinson, who is a widely popular football analyst in Spain, also gave his prediction on United’s Champions League clash with Barcelona tonight in an interview with Spanish sports newspaper Mundo Deportivo, saying: “I think Barcelona will win because I think they are far superior to United.”

Robinson was diagnosed with metastatic cancer last year and has advanced melanoma skin cancer.

He recently gave an interview with ‘Espejo Publico’, broadcast by TV channel Antena 3 in Spain, and spoke about his treatment at the HM Sanchinarro Hospital in the Spanish capital Madrid, saying: “My doctor told me there is a 37 percent chance of curing me with immunotherapy. I discovered a lump in my armpit in August which was growing every day and I was in good shape.”

"I am learning a lot about myself. I don’t have any fear of death. What makes me very sad is saying goodbye to my family before the match is finished, even though I am the luckiest guy I know.”
