Paul Pogba twice told he's been 'shown up' by Bruno Fernandes at Man Utd

Paul Pogba has now twice been told that he's been 'shown up' by Bruno Fernandes at Manchester United.

Fernandes has hit the ground running at Old Trafford since his January switch from Sporting Lisbon, while Pogba has been out injured.

Former United star Paul Ince recently spoke out about Fernandes' impact, suggesting he's put Pogba to shame.

"What's disappointing is the way he's acted, his behaviour and performances reflect that he's been unsure about his decision. You compare that to Bruno Fernandes, and his arrival at United, and it's crazy," Ince told Paddy Power.

"He's come in and hit the ground running fairly instantly, winning over the fans in the process. Pogba never did that and his performances have been inconsistent to say the least.

"Sometimes they've been on the border of diabolical, and occasionally they've been brilliant. When you cost that kind of money as a player, fans expect you to be consistently great, especially when you're playing for Manchester United."

He added: "If you want the right attitude and mentality, and high standards, then sorry, but that doesn't fit in with Paul Pogba. There's been too many distractions, too many reports around him and his behaviour, so his time for me is up.

"Perhaps if Fernandes hadn't come in and done as well as he has done, maybe Ole might try and keep Pogba. But now, he might be thinking if I can get the right money for Pogba, then I can let him go."

Ex-Manchester United captain Ince isn't the first former professional to criticise Pogba while heaping praise on Fernandes.

Emmanuel Petit did the same when he told Mirror Football: "Fernandes has made a huge impact. In the space of two months he is the best buy in the winter market. He has made such a big impact. It's like he's been at the club for six years.

"He's changed the mentality inside the dressing room. It's hard for a player to come in mid-season and do that. Paul Pogba was meant to be doing this at Manchester United. It's what he should have done in terms of leadership on the pitch.

"But I'm looking forward to seeing them together on the pitch, I want to see if that can work, and I'm pretty sure it can work."
