Paul Pogba talks with Juventus progressing and other Manchester United transfer rumours

Manchester United star Paul Pogba is edging closer to a move back to Juventus, according to reports.

United are gearing up to lose the World Cup winner on a free transfer for the second time, a decade on from his first switch to the Italian giants. Pogba spent four years in Turin before heading back to Old Trafford in a near-£90million deal before the 2016/2017 season.

He won the Serie A title in all of his four campaigns with the Old Lady. However, trophies have proven to be at a premium for Pogba in his second coming at United.

The 29-year-old was part of the Jose Mourinho team that won the Carabao Cup and Europa League in 2017. However, United have not picked up any silverware since then as they crashed out of the Champions League against Atletico Madrid in the last 16 on Tuesday night.

Pogba was summoned from the bench in that game. According to journalist Rudy Galetti, talks between the Italian side and Pogba have progressed - with hope from both parties that an agreement for the Frenchman could be finalised by April.

United are, elsewhere, reported to have taken the first steps to sign Aurelien Tchouameni. Spanish publication Marca credit United with making an approach for the highly-rated France international - one of several players linked to Old Trafford as key figures in the boardroom prepare to prioritise central midfield signings in the summer transfer window.

The Manchester Evening News understands Declan Rice is still viewed as target number one. However, his current club West Ham are expected to dig their heels in over a valuation.

Marca suggest Liverpool, Real Madrid and Juventus offer the most likely competition for Tchouameni. It's reported that the player himself would favour a move to the Premier League.
