Paul Pogba could be about to sign a new five-year deal at Manchester United.
The move could be a massive u-turn with the Frenchman signalling his desire to quit Old Trafford last summer.
Real Madrid and Juventus were both interested in his services but United stood firm on their stance that he wouldn't be sold.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has regularly backed his player amid speculation he is haggling for a departure.
But the World Cup winner could now sign a new deal in Manchester with the club hopeful of announcing the news at the end of the season, reports The Sun.
The 27-year-old is currently under contract until the end of next season while the club have an option for a further year.
Pogba has been injured for much of the season but has returned and performed well since the Premier League resumed.
He and Bruno Fernandes have been able to co-exist in United's midfield, a partnership that was previously questioned.
Solskjaer's man management is thought to be a factor in the decision with the Norwegian's style proving effective.
The 47-year-old has spoken highly of Pogba's recent form and claimed he is currently undroppable.
But having played six games over a short period he is likely to be rested against Crystal Palace tonight.
“I’ve been speaking more or less every day with Paul. He knows he wouldn’t be dropped," said Solskjaer.
“When Paul plays like this, he wouldn’t be dropped from any team in the world — France or Manchester United — but he’s been out for a long, long time.
“There was a question mark before the game against Southampton but he felt ready for it, which was great, so now let’s see how he is.
“He’s been fantastic since the restart and brought a lot to the team.”
