Paul Pogba sent Donny van de Beek warning amid Manchester United contract talks

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Ince has suggested that Paul Pogba should take note of the situation Donny van de Beek has found himself in at Old Trafford, amid speculation concerning his future.

It was reported by French newspaper L'Equipe last week that Pogba, who is out-of-contract at Old Trafford in less than a year's time, has been presented with an offer of a £400,000-per-week deal to convince him to sign a new deal at the club.

Pogba's future has been a hot topic of speculation in recent weeks and months, with big-name clubs right across Europe being heavily linked with his signature, including his former side, Juventus.

However, Pogba is remaining calm about his future, recently admitting that a decision would be made at the end of the season.

Nevertheless, despite United's desire to retain the services of the versatile midfielder, former Reds star Ince believes the France international should pay attention to the experience Van de Beek has had at United since joining the club on a long-term contract in September last year.

The Dutchman has effectively been frozen out by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, being restricted to a paltry three appearances so far this season.

Ince told The United Stand : "It's just like Donny van de Beek. He came from Ajax, came for a big fee, signed a four-year contract and thought he was going to play.

"He doesn't even play.

"What is the point of Pogba signing a four or five-year deal, or whatever it may be, and then once he has signed it he loses all his power, as the manager can dictate when he comes on, where he plays, if he plays, when he plays and who he plays against.

"He would be knackered. Absolutely knackered. So, for me, I don't see any substance in this story. I just think it is United saying 'we're trying to keep Pogba'.

"I can guarantee that if Pogba leaves at the end of the season, United will come out and say 'we did what we could, we wanted him to stay, you know that because we have offered him £400,000 and we tried everything we could to keep Pogba at the club'.

"If Pogba is not happy and not convinced that he is going to play week-in, week-out, then why is he not going to wait until the end of the season and see what happens?"
