Paul Pogba sends message to Manchester United teammates Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho

Paul Pogba said he's bursting with pride in response to the courage shown by Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho during the Euro 2020 final.

After reaching their first major international showpiece in 55 years, Sunday night proved to be a heart-breaking one for those two players, and England, as Italy reigned supreme at Wembley.

Manchester United forward Rashford and Old Trafford-bound Sancho were among those to miss from the spot.

Bukayo Saka was also thwarted by match-winning Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma after 120 gripping minutes beneath the arch.

The trio were, generally, applauded for stepping up on such an important occasion.

However, they were also subjected to vile racial abuse on social media - much to the anger of Pogba and others who have since responded in defence of the trio.

Addressing over 23million followers through his official Facebook page, Pogba said: "I am PROUD OF YOU. You win some, you lose some.

"You took the courage to take the penalties and you showed your worth to help your country reach the final.

"We cannot tolerate or stand for racism anymore and we will never stop combatting it. You boys should hold your heads high and be proud of your confidence. You are examples of this beautiful game. Never forget that. Be proud of yourselves, the world of football is proud of you."
