Paul Pogba sends Manchester United reminder as trio reach Nations League final

Manchester United trio Paul Pogba, Raphael Varane and Anthony Martial will be competing for international glory this weekend after France reached the final of the Nations League.

Les Blues staged an incredible comeback to defeat Belgium 3-2 in their semi-final encounter on Thursday night, with Theo Hernandez winning the match with a superb strike in the first minute of additional time.

Belgium led 2-0 at half-time thanks to strikes from Yannick Carrasco and Romelu Lukaku but would see their advantage slip after the break thanks to goals from Karim Benzema and Kylian Mbappe.

With the scores level heading into the final minute of the match, Pogba curled an incredible free-kick off the crossbar before Hernandez fired home the eventual winner shortly after.

It was another fine performance from Pogba, who created more chances than any other France player, and further evidence of his ability to play in a midfield two alongside Adrien Rabiot, something he has rarely done for United.

The 28-year-old's performance at the heart of a 3-4-1-2 set-up is a timely tactical reminder for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as he looks to develop his side's own approach and get the best from the players at his disposal.

France will face Spain in the Nations League final on Sunday where the United trio will take on club teammate David de Gea - though he is expected to start the game on the bench.

Over in South America, it was a frustrating night for Edinson Cavani who came on at half-time as Uruguay were held to a goalless draw by Colombia in World Cup qualification.

While midfielder Fred was an unused substitute for Brazil in their 3-1 qualification victory versus Venezuela.
