Paul Pogba sends Manchester United fans message ahead of Man City clash

Paul Pogba says Manchester United will look to apologise to the fans on Wednesday night by putting in a good performance against Manchester City.

United will be looking to bounce back after Sunday afternoon's dreadful display at Goodison and up next is a clash against Pep Guardiola's City side who are on a 10 game winning streak in the league.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer apologised to the fans for Sunday's performance and Pogba explained how the players want to repay them by putting in a good performance at Old Trafford.

"There’s one thing that we have to do – words are not enough – we have to show on the pitch and show to the fans that we’re better than that," Pogba told MUTV. "What we did is not respectful for ourselves or for the fans. They kept pushing us on, even after 4-0, they were there still pushing us and giving us strength.

"We want to thank them for that and we have to apologise to them with a good performance, a good result and a good attitude on the pitch.

"We might lose games but the attitude and the performance of the team has to be better, for sure."

The World Cup winner scored twice in two minutes against City at the Etihad last season and is hoping for a similar performance from his teammates when the two meet again on Wednesday night.

"We gave everything, we didn’t think about anything else, we just went on the pitch and gave our best," Pogba added. "We’re going to do the same thing this time but it’s going to be different as they need to win because they are in a race for the title and we can block them from that.

“But, for us, we need to win, that’s very important. Both of us need three points.”
