Paul Pogba sends defiant message to Man Utd teammates ahead of Barcelona clash

Paul Pogba insists Manchester United "can hurt" Barcelona in next week's decisive Champions League quarter-final tie.

United lost the first leg 1-0 at Old Trafford on Wednesday and face a huge task to overturn that deficit at the Nou Camp next Tuesday.

Barcelona have not lost a Champions League tie at home for six years, but Pogba said United will go there believing they can progress, although he admitted they must be "killers" in front of goal when they get chances.

United overcame a 2-0 first-leg deficit to beat Paris St Germain 3-1 away in the previous round, with Pogba claiming that will be playing on the minds of Barcelona's players ahead of the return leg.

“We are 1-0 down and now go to the Nou Camp, but we believe chances will come over there," said Pogba.

Paul Pogba's response to Real Madrid question after Man Utd loss to Barcelona

"We have to keep believing. It's a Champions League game and we know we can hurt them as well as they can hurt us.

“Probably Paris will be in their minds for sure, because they saw what we can do against PSG.

"Obviously they will be comfortable on their own pitch but let us see. We’ll see what happens at the end."

Reflecting on United's first-leg defeat, in which Ole Gunnar Solskajer's side failed to produce a single shot on target, Pogba said: "I think it was a good game.

"Obviously you are playing against one of the best teams in the world, but we gave them some problems. We know that we can hurt them.

“It's one leg gone and now we have to give everything in the second one.

What Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said to Lionel Messi after Man Utd defeat to Barcelona

“Of course, we saw a team we can beat," he continued. "If you don’t believe that, then you just let them go through.

"We believe we can beat them. We are Manchester United , they are Barcelona, but we are Manchester United and we play in the Champions League like they do and we can go through of course.

“Maybe the chances we might get we have to put them in and be careful. They had chances and they could have scored another when David [De Gea] made a great save but after that they were not that dangerous.

“We have to avoid giving them chances and be killers in front of goal."
