Paul Pogba's phone call to Ousmane Dembele amid Man Utd transfer interest

Paul Pogba is trying to persuade compatriot Ousmane Dembele to make the move to Manchester United, claims reports in Spain

The Barcelona winger has been heavily linked with a loan switch to Old Trafford before the transfer window closes.

United are seeking alternatives to Jadon Sancho with Borussia Dortmund standing firm on their €120 million (£109.6m) valuation.

Dembele has struggled with injuries since making his move to the Nou Camp in 2017 which has prevented him from hitting the heights expected.

United are now eyeing a loan move with the option to buy and Pogba is looking to play his part.

The Frenchman has personally called Dembele in an attempt to seal the deal, reports Mundo Deportivo.

Pogba has also told the Barcelona man that a move to Manchester would enable him to secure more game time which would enhance his chances of making the French squad for next summer's European Championships.

Dembele is one of several other players being targeted by the Old Trafford hierarchy, who has been criticised for their business this summer.

Luka Jovic, Edinson Cavani and Ismalia Sarr have all been linked with moves to the red half of Manchester.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has again reiterated his desire to strengthen before the window closes.

"They [United] know my view," he said. "The transfer window is still open for a little while. If something happens in or out you will get to know.

"There are many ways of improving a team. I keep reading about the players who should be playing instead of the ones who aren't because they are performing well.

"That tells me I have a strong squad. There is competition for places.

"We need results. That is the only way of affecting the mood at the club - the players and staff. All the rest is short-term moods."
