Paul Pogba's apology for furious outburst at team-mate as tempers flared

Paul Pogba apologised to France teammate Benjamin Pavard after he blew up at his compatriot during the UEFA Nations League final.

France came back to beat Spain 2-1 thanks to goals from Karim Benzema and Kylian Mbappe - with the winner coming in controversial fashion.

Mikel Oyarzabal scored the game's opener as he fired past Hugo Lloris, but Pogba was fuming with Pavard's role following some poor play by Les Blues.

The Manchester United star was seen calling out his teammate before Didier Deschamps bought him off.

Reports claimed Pavard was angry that Pogba has singled him out publicly and the Bayern Munich defender was evidently frustrated on the bench.

Now that the dust has settled, though, the Frenchman has calmed the situation with Pavard revealed Pogba apologised and they soon made up after the game.

Pavard told L’Equipe: “I watched the action several times, we talked about it again with Paul, he apologised for reacting in this way.

"I’m not moving well enough on this action, nor am I at a standstill, and there could have been other player movements as well.

"We had a chat, I don’t blame him, we talked about it after the match, everything is settled.”

Pogba is in the midst of a lengthy silverware drought at club level but continues to enjoy success with France.

Success in the Nations League comes after the 2018 World Cup victory in Russia but the midfielder still wants more.

He said: “It’s true that we started badly in the first half, where we were dominated by Spain. We had to react after the goal, we had to score quickly after

“We have to do better, we know that. The result is victory. If that’s how we have to win … why not!

“We will continue like this. Of course, this victory is important, it’s always good to go for trophies. We are never satisfied, we are always thirsty.”

LEICESTER 4-2 MAN UTD: Five talking points as another defeat piles pressure on Solskjaer

Pogba was quickly bought back down to earth at the weekend however as United were outplayed by Leicester, losing 4-2 at the King Power.

Pressure is mounting on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer following a summer of heavy recruitment and the midfielder gave a frank assessment.

"To be honest, we've been having this kind of game for a long time and we haven't found the problem," Pogba said.

"We need to find something, we need to change something. I don't know if the mindset of all of us, the players, when we start... we really don't know."
