Paul Pogba's agent 'contacts Real Madrid over Man Utd transfer'

The agent of Paul Pogba, Mino Raiola, has held two phone conversations with Real Madrid over the midfielder's 'desire' to leave Manchester United for the Spanish capital, it has been claimed.

Pogba has made no secret about his admiration for Madrid and he reiterated those comments during the international break.

"Like I've always said, Real Madrid is a dream for anyone. It's one of the biggest clubs in the world," the Frenchman said prior to France's EURO 2020 qualifier against Moldova.

"There is also [Zinedine] Zidane as a coach and it's a dream for anybody who likes football.

"We don't know what the future holds. I'm at Manchester and I'm happy."

Now Spanish publication Marca are reporting that "Pogba is back in focus of Madrid again thanks to the hand of his agent".

The report claims that there has been telephone contact between both parties and a deal that once seemed 'impossible', due to a problem between Madrid and Raiola, 'seems to be on the cards again.'

Madrid were interested in the Frenchman when he left Italian giants Juventus for United, it's claimed, but the Madrid hierarchy deemed the huge transfer fee as 'excessive.'

However, even though a deal wouldn't be 'easy' it's reported that Los Blancos see Pogba as a player who would 'fit and bill for what they want' and is well liked by Zidane.

It's even claimed that Pogba's wages can be taken on by Madrid due to his 'profile as a player, both in a sporting and commercial sense.'

The 26-year-old's contract at United doesn't expire until 2021 and has an option for a further year.

Elsewhere, Antoine Griezmann has apparently told manager Diego Simeone that he will be staying at Atletico Madrid this summer.

Rumours had been linking the Frenchman with a move to Barcelona or United but Spanish outlet AS report that he has told his manager in private that he will be remaining in Madrid and that he believes he can win trophies under him.

Griezmann's €200m buy-out clause, however, will reportedly reduce to €120m in July, which is certain to ignite more interest in the forward.
