Paul Pogba reveals why he was an Arsenal fan before dropping them for Manchester United

Paul Pogba has revealed that his love for Thierry Henry led to him supporting Arsenal before he became a Manchester United fan.

United signed Pogba as a youth player from Le Havre in 209, but lost him on a free transfer to Juventus three years later.

The midfielder became a star in Turin before United re-signed him for £89.3million in 2016 - a world-record transfer fee at the time.

While Pogba has not quite hit the heights at United that he managed for Juve, the 27-year-old was pivotal in France's 2018 World Cup triumph- including a goal in the final against Croatia.

Pogba's relationship with United has been strained the past year as the midfielder has looked for a "new challenge" away from Old Trafford, but Real Madrid and Juve are so far yet to match United's £150m asking price.

Despite uncertainty over his future, Pogba recently sat down for an in-depth podcast with United.

The World Cup winner says that while he eventually became a United fan because of his brother, the sheer number of French players - including on in particular - made him an Gooner beforehand.

"I will be honest," he Pogba said. "So, at the start, I was an Arsenal fan – obviously because of all the French players, you know.

"Me and my brother were, but my other brother was a Manchester United fan.

"I couldn’t say anything so I used to love [Thierry] Henry and, because of him, I was an Arsenal fan.

"Then I changed and went on to choose with my other brother.

"No Arsenal, I went with the other one, the United fan!”
