Paul Pogba reveals why he changed penalty run-up in Man Utd's win over West Ham

Paul Pogba was Manchester United's match-winner as he struck two penalties in their 2-0 win over West Ham .

But there was something noticeably different as he ditched his stutter run-up for a much more direct approach.

The Frenchman twice beat Lukasz Fabianski from 12 yards to ensure the Red Devils emerged with a huge three points after a lacklustre performance.

Pogba revealed he made a conscious decision to change his long, controversial run-up and focus on simply putting the ball in the back of the net.

But he reckons he perhaps tricked the Hammers keeper in their battle of mind games as he hit the back of the net in the first half and again 10 minutes from time.

"Because what matters is to put the ball inside (the goal)," Pogba told BT Sport when asked why he changed his penalty run-up.

"That's all, I've learnt.

"Maybe I tricked him (the goalkeeper) today!"

Pogba admitted it was far from a perfect performance from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side.

But he felt emerging with a win and making the most of their good fortune was the most important thing to keep their top four chances alive.

There were question marks over whether the foul on Juan Mata for the first penalty took place inside the box whilst a Felipe Anderson goal was controversially ruled out for offside.

"The most important is the three points and the win today," Pogba declared.

"We had the luck today. You always have to take it.
