Paul Pogba reveals family conversations when deciding Manchester United future

Paul Pogba has lifted the lid on the conversations that he had with family members when departing Manchester United for Juventus in 2012.

The Frenchman would of course return to Old Trafford - where he'd come through the youth ranks - in a huge 2016 transfer, though is now being linked with another move away from United. Juve and Real Madrid have both been linked,

Pogba is gunning to return to the United side when football resumes, having recovered from ankle surgery and provided an update on his improving fitness.

But he spoke about his first move away from the club and what two close family members said.

“My brother, the United fan, told me he was really angry – even more than me – when I didn’t play," Pogba told the United podcast whilst recalling his own frustrations at a lack of first team football under Sir Alex Ferguson.

"He told me: ‘No, go. You can play in this team. If they don’t want you here, go somewhere else. They will see.’”

Pogba's mother Yeo Moriba concurred, with the midfielder revealing that she predicted he would return to Old Trafford in the future - which he did four years on.

Pogba added: “My mother always told me: ‘You will go somewhere but come back.’

"She always said this. I was like: ‘We will see’ but you know mothers and the things she said: ‘You will come back here, don’t worry’ and that was just after. She said you will come back to Manchester, don’t worry, and I did.

“Yeah, when I came back, I was really happy to come back.

"I left it and didn’t finish. I started something but I didn’t finish, I just went somewhere else. To finish it. Obviously, coming back where I started was for me, why I was really happy.

"Now I’m ready to come as a confirmed player not a youth player.”

Pogba's future in the present day remains unclear. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may indeed welcome the 27-year-old back to his squad when football returns, but the next summer transfer window will surely see more transfer speculation.
