Paul Pogba has reportedly been taking part in extra training sessions in a bid to hit the ground running when he returns from injury, according to reports.
Red Devils fans had been counting down the days until Pogba's return prior to Bruno Fernandes joining from Sporting Lisbon this January.
But ever since the Portugal international pulled on the Manchester United jersey, he has become the club's new focal point, and he spurred them on to victory in Sunday's derby against Manchester City.
Pogba may find muscling his way back into the first team at United harder than it would have been prior to Fernandes signing.
And the Frenchman is seemingly aware of this as he has been staying late at Man United's Carrington training base to do some extra training, according to the MEN.
Pogba has been out of action for United since Boxing Day, but is due to return to training ahead of this weekend's clash with Tottenham.
Providing an update on his situation, Solskjaer said: "Paul's still working with the physios outside and he won't be training with the first-team until next week.
"And then let's see how long that will take. He needs time to get his football fitness back."
Fernandes was instrumental in Manchester United beating rivals Man City in Sunday's derby at Old Trafford on Sunday.
The Portuguese midfielder assisted team-mate Anthony Martial to open the scoring on the half-hour mark before Scott McTominay secured all three points for the home side with one of the final kicks of the game.
