Paul Pogba on Twitter: Man Utd star posts smiling picture and says 'caption this' after Jose Mourinho sacking

Paul Pogba showed little sign of offering an olive branch to Jose Mourinho following Manchester United’s decision to sack their manager brought to an end the tumultuous connection between the two.

Within an hour of the announcement of Mourinho’s sacking Pogba posted a photo of himself offering a quizzical gaze into the camera on Instagram and Twitter with no comment beyond “caption this!”

Pogba subsequently deleted the post from both platforms.

It is no secret that Pogba and Mourinho have endured a frosty relationship this season, with the France international publically questioning his manager’s tactics following a draw with Wolves in September.

Mourinho subsequently stripped the 25-year-old of the vice-captaincy and in the final match of his reign, Sunday’s 3-1 defeat at Liverpool, left Pogba among the substitutes.

There had been growing speculation that if Mourinho did not leave the club in the summer Pogba would instead depart two years after United paid £89million to bring him back from Juventus. United, however, have been insistent that Pogba will not leave.

At the time of writing there was little sign of any supportive words from Manchester United players towards their now former manager, perhaps not an entirely surprising state of events considering how many of Mourinho had publicly criticised with during his two-and-a-half years at Old Trafford.
