Paul Pogba makes Man Utd WORSE, claims former Premier League defender

Former Fulham and Hull defender Liam Rosenior has claimed Paul Pogba drags his Manchester United team-mates down - and isn't the leader fans expected him to become.

Pogba is at the centre of attention again after an apparent verbal altercation with Manchester United fans following their season-ending 2-0 defeat to Cardiff on Sunday.

Despite being their top-scorer this season with 16 goals in all competitions, much of the blame for United's poor campaign has fallen on Pogba's shoulders and the Frenchman reacted to seemingly being heckled by a small number of supporters during the club's lap of honour at Old Trafford.

The midfielder, who starred for France as they romped to a memorable World Cup triumph last summer, has been linked with a summer switch to Real Madrid .

And retired Rosenior, who made 141 Premier League appearances during a successful career, believes Pogba makes the players around him at Manchester United worse.

Speaking on The Debate , he said: "Pogba is not the right player that United need right now.

“Is he a world-class footballer? Yes. Is he the type of player that you can use your values, your structure on, make him leader of the team? He's not.

"He's just not the right fit. Liverpool and City are so disciplined.

“I remember Carrick, his positioning, his selflessness, he made players around him better. Pogba makes players around him worse players, because they constantly have to fill in where he's floating off."

Rosenior went on to add that Pogba isn’t the leader United fans expected him to be when he returned to Old Trafford from Juventus in 2016.

He said: "I think too much has been placed on his shoulders to be the leader that he's not.

“I saw him play in the France team and run the show and win the World Cup, and the difference is that they have real leaders throughout that team in and around him, influencing him in the right way.

"Every player is a different personality."
